We are cruising our beautiful sail boat Cadence around the vast and at times rugged Australian coastline. Exploring above and below the sea, and enjoying finding the hidden gems that can only be fully relaxed into when you drop the hook, and spend the night aboard after the sun sets and the day crowd go home,
She is a Beneteau Oceanis 50 perfect for long distance exploring around the islands and quiet little bays.
Cadence is a sturdy seafaring gal, and she has safely delivered us from Fremantle (WA) starting in April 2021 to Cairns (QLD) by October 2022, and back down to the Sunshine Coast (QLD) for the Australian summer.
Life on board is pretty salube – with plenty of living space, even when guests join us. Cadence boasts 3 separate cabins, each with ensuite bathroom, cosy saloon/galley, and our favourite gathering spot of course being the cockpit, where we sail, BBQ, eat, drink, socialise, and of course host sundowners with other cruisers along the way.
We have completed an extensive refit of running rigging, electric winch, bigger dinghy, and a big bunch of safety gear, to turn a solid day-cruiser/party boat into a very capable blue water sailor. Along the way, we have made a solid contribution to the retirement plans of a couple of electronics tech-heads, adding new plotter, AIS, radar, VHF radio, as well as the usual plethora of new “thingies” that we didn’t know we needed, or even understand now that we have them. But, I must admit, so far so good, and it all works…. UGH! Should not jinx us by saying that!
